NursingNow Nigeria: Goodwill Message From Mrs Henrietta Okedo, The Executive Secretary, West African College Of Nursing.

It is an honour for me to to extend my warmest greetings to the technical team of Nursing Now Nigeria on the auspicious occasion of the official launch of Nursing Now Online Platform for Nursing Leaders which is in collaboration with International Council of Nurses and World Health Organization. It could not have come at a better time when the age long challenges facing nursing in Nigeria seem to be taking a whole new dimension. Today marks the beginning of a new nursing profession driven by will and passion for a paradigm shift by nurses in Nigeria and by extension the nurses in the West African sub-region. Nurses can only change the poor health indices in Nigeria if they have the required education, skill, competence and expertise to drive the change they believe in. That cannot be achieved if they are comfortable and continue to remain at the rear.

Certainly there are problems, but irrespective of the challenges we are facing as professionals, today is a day of joy for every nurse/midwife for the vibrant , energetic, futuristic and resolute young nurses that desire change in our profile and status .
I am particularly elated that this forum will provide a wonderful opportunity for cross- fertilisation of ideas irrespective of our educational /clinical inclinations and to realise that the PROFESSION is bigger and greater than all of us and will only become what we collectively want it to be.

I wish the Nursing Now Team and all our great Nursing Leaders a bright and prosperous future .
I look forward to working closely with you all to achieve our desired and shared goal of advancing nursing profession in Nigeria and the West African sub-region.
Long live Nurses and Midwives
Long live Nursing Now Team
Long live Nigeria.
