Job Reference: 415-AJ19-161ND

Employer: Northern Devon Healthcare Trust Department: Various Location: Barnstaple Salary: £21,089 – £23,761 per annum pro rata

Northern Devon Healthcare Trust can offer you excellent support to enable you to become the nurse you aspire to be. We are looking for nurses who have passed the International English Language Test (IELTS) or have passed the OET (Occupational English Test) with Grade B across all 4 modules and have also successfully completed Part 1 of the NMC Test of Competence (CBT). You should also be in receipt of your NMC decision letter.

What we offer?

We have a dedicated Overseas Nursing lead that will support you to pass your exam. We offer a blended learning approach which means you will have one to one support, dedicated study time, learn alongside your peers and consolidate your skills on the ward. The programme will fully prepare you to undertake the NMC OSCE and prepare you for employment as a Band 5 Registered Nurse in a range of clinical areas across the Hospital.

It includes:

– A thorough theoretical and practical induction to Northern Devon healthcare Trust and your clinical area

– a period of supervised practice in your clinical area, supported by a mentor, supplemented with study time release for OSCE preparation sessions – these practical sessions are based on the NMC competencies that you will be tested against at the testing centre

– A period of Preceptorship following your registration with the NMC

– Trust funding for your first and second OSCE attempt

During the programme you will function and be paid as a Band 4 Transition Nurse. Continued employment with the Trust following completion of the programme will be dependent on gaining NMC registration to be able to practice as a Band 5 Registered Nurse.

You will use the skills, knowledge experience gained as a Registered Nurse overseas in preparation for becoming a Registered Nurse in the UK by undertaking a range of clinical nursing duties and training under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse until confirmation of entry to the NMC register is confirmed by the Trust.

What we require from you:

Due to the nature of the training programme, we can only accept applications from nurses that are able to work at least 30 hours per week. Full time hours (37.5 hours per week) will be preferred. Applicants must hold a valid IELTS/OET and CBT certificate, a nursing qualification and current overseas registration and have at least one year’s experience in the country where the qualification was obtained and also a NMC decision letter.

To indicate your interest to our Hospital, please submit an on-line application; in the supporting information please ensure that you include a summary of the stage of your NMC overseas registration application along with your result of your English Language test.

Our values guide everything we do. At all times, we aim to:

  • Demonstrate compassion
  • Strive for excellence
  • Respect diversity
  • Act with integrity
  • Listen and support others

Our teams of care professionals work with patients and their families to support peoples’ independence, health and wellbeing. We provide support to avoid hospital admissions, and if an admission is necessary, we try to make each patient’s stay in hospital as short and effective as possible before working with them on a safe discharge home.

In our most recent staff survey, our staff voted us in the top 10% of NHS provider organisations to work for and we also came out as the top provider in the South West for our overall results. Our patients (through the Friends and Family Test) regularly report an average of over 95% satisfaction with our services.

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the Resident Labour Market Test. For further information and to self-assess the likelihood of obtaining a Certificate of Sponsorship, please visit the UK Border Agency website. Note: we will be unable to obtain Tier 2 sponsorship for Bank positions.

Please note that we may close this vacancy early if we receive a high volume of applicants.
