Nursing Jobs in Kenya 2017: Registered Nurse – (Part-Time Basis)

Africa Nazarene University (ANU) is an accredited Private Christian University sponsored by the Church of Nazarene International, which follows the Wesleyan Holiness Tradition. It integrates faith with learning to produce well rounded individuals who are able to meet challenges of their times.

The holder of this position will be reporting to the Clinical Officer in- Charge and will be required on a part time basis, in the evening from 4.00 – 8.30 pm to provide nursing care to patients, attend to medical emergencies, accompany referred patients and administer prescribed medications.

He/she will ensure that all required observations, prescribed treatment and procedures are properly carried out in accordance with nursing standards.
Nursing Job Responsibilities

Treat patients and observation of vital signs.
Maintain medical records
Observe and monitor patients’ conditions.
Offer medical advice to clients
Assist in surgical procedures and dressing of wounds
Referral (where necessary) of medical emergencies
Accompany patients to hospitals upon referral.
General housekeeping of the clinic – maintaining proper hygiene standards
Assist in preparation/pre-packaging of first aid kits.
Administering drugs as needed
Assist in monthly stock take
Billing and sending of monthly insurance invoices.

Qualifications for the Nursing Job

Diploma in Nursing from an accredited medical training institution
Kenya Registered Nurse/Kenya Registered Community Nurse
Valid practicing license from the Nursing Council of Kenya
3 years’ proven experience in a busy health Centre, Level 4 or Mission Hospital
Preference will be given to a candidate with experience in a university setting


Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Problem solving and counselling skills.
Proficiency in basic computer applications.

Responsibilities for the Nurse Job

To coordinate all first aid activities on the farm and be Chief first aider in the farm.
To sensitize all worker on the farm on importance of VCT and counselling.
Carry out health screening of all workers joining the farm and those from sick leave or leave before proceeding to their work place.
Administer nonprescriptive (over the counter) drugs as and when necessary.
Identifying ailments that are selfinduced, i.e. drinking and it’s after effects, personal injuries and illnesses sustained outside the work place.
Updating the general register as per the requirements of HOSSA, in regards to sickness, injuries and painting of buildings.
To advise and be keen on identifying and advising managements on disease outbreaks that poses a threat to food contamination.
To be the referral officer to cases that require advanced treatment to doctors and hospitals.
In charge of monitoring and report to management progress of employee patients taken to hospitals either in or outpatients.

Health & safety

To advise management on incidences of occupational diseases, and preventative/control methods and procedures.
Responsible for all health and safety training on the farm.
Coordinate all matters on health and safety in the farm
Assist in the auditing of all health and safety issues.
To liaise with the officials from the ministry of health on training programmes that might be of importance to farm workers i.e. HIV campaign awareness
To coordinate all first aid training on the farm
Health education trainings general hygiene practices like washing of hands before handling food, after visiting the toilet, general body hygiene etc.


Responsible for completion of data, reports, records related to sickness/ illness on the farm
Keeping records on all injuries and accidents that occur on the farm by filling the
General register for factories and other work place as prescribed by the ministry of labour under section 62 of the act.
Keeping records on healthy screening of all workers joining the farm.

Qualifications for the Nurse Job

Diploma/Degree in the relevant field
Experience of not less than 2 yrs. in a Farming sector especially Veg/Flower farms
Knowledge in Community Environment

Cme Hours For Saudi Council Renewal

Here are CME hours for Saudi Council renewal of license for nurses, doctors, technicians and other allied health practitioners.

Physicians and dentists are to present 30 hours CME for 1 year which translates to 90 hours in 3years or 150 hours in 5 years.

Nurses are to produce 15 cme hours for Saudi Council renewal per year while pharmacists and other allied medical specialties are to present 20 hours per year. Technicians however are to present 10 hours per year.

The health practitioners who are exempted from the condition of obtaining CME Hours for Saudi Council Renewal are:
1. Health practitioners who are registered in postgraduate training programs
2. Health and patient assistants
3. Optical lab technicians
4. Health management technicians
5. Medical records technicians
6. Medical secretariat technicians
7. Medical equipment and health inspector technicians
8. Environmental technicians
9. Non-practicing health practitioners

Instructions for Health Practitioners attending CME Hours for Saudi Council Renewal

1. Ensure that the activity is accredited by SCFHS by visiting the website, and check the information related to the activity (name, venue and date)
2. The activity should be in line with the practitioner field of specialty
3. Ensure that the CME hours obtained are in accordance with the specific categories
4. Attendance shall be for the whole period of the activity according to the period accredited by SCFHS
5. In the case of departmental activities, SCFHS shall suffice itself with the letter or certificate issued by the academic affairs or department head that includes the number and date of accreditation in addition to the activity’s actual attendance hours during the year
6. Handwritten or scanned certificates shall not be accepted by SCFHS
7. The health practitioner shall be entitled to attend the accredited activity only once
8. All the provisions mentioned above shall apply to attending activities conducted outside KSA provided that they are provided by accredited scientific health institutions. The health practitioner shall bring an attendance certificate that includes the number of accredited hours or enclose the scientific program of the activity
